Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
V Player is a media player application for Android phones, tablets, Android TV, and Amazon Fire TV. This Privacy Policy explains what data V Player collects, how that data is used and protected, and the rights you have over it. You can contact us at any time via the contact form or by email at app.vplayer@gmail.com.
2. Data we collect
Device data
- Android ID (SSAID) — a per-app, per-user identifier provided by the operating system. It is hashed with SHA-256 immediately and is never stored in raw form.
- MAC address — derived from the hashed Android ID. Used as the primary identifier for activation and license enforcement.
- Device Key — a server-generated alphanumeric credential assigned to each Device for authentication.
- Device information — device model, manufacturer, operating system version, and Application version. Used for compatibility, support, and diagnostics.
Account data
V Player does not require an email address or name to use the Application. The customer dashboard at vplayer.us is accessed using your MAC address and Device Key only.
Playlist credentials
Playlist credentials (username, password, server URL) are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage. The encryption key is held outside the database. Playlist URLs are stored as you provide them. Playlist content is fetched directly from your provider's servers and is not stored on our infrastructure.
Payment data
License purchases are processed by a third-party payment provider that acts as merchant of record. V Player receives a transaction identifier, the License purchased, and a billing email address only. We do not receive, store, or process card numbers, expiration dates, CVV values, or any other full payment instrument data.
Contact form submissions
When you send a message through the contact form, we collect your name, email address, subject, message body, IP address, and browser user-agent. This information is used only to respond to your message and detect abuse.
Technical logs
- IP address — logged for API authentication, rate-limiting, fraud prevention, and audit purposes.
- Cookies and storage — the website sets a
customer_tokencookie to keep you signed in to the customer dashboard. The welcome modal usessessionStorageto remember that you have acknowledged it during your current browser session. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies are used. - Usage analytics — we measure how the website and customer dashboard are used (pages viewed, checkout steps reached) with our own first-party system. It uses a per-tab
sessionStorageidentifier (not a cross-site cookie), and any IP address is stored only as a one-way hash. No data is shared with Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics provider.
3. Why we collect this data
- To register and activate Devices, enforce License limits, and provide playback features.
- To authenticate API requests, detect tampering, and prevent abuse.
- To respond to support and contact requests.
- To process and account for payments.
- To understand, with first-party analytics, how the website and dashboard are used so we can improve them.
V Player does not collect any data for advertising, cross-site profiling, or sale to third parties. Usage analytics are first-party only and used solely to improve the service.
4. Legal bases for processing (EU / UK)
- Contract — Device registration, activation, License enforcement, and payment handling are necessary to provide the service you requested.
- Legitimate interest — Security logging, rate-limiting, abuse detection, and audit trails for transactions.
- Consent — Voluntary contact form submissions and acknowledgment of the welcome modal.
5. API security
Communications between the Application and the V Player API are signed with HMAC-SHA256. Each signed request includes a timestamp validated within a five-minute window and a nonce to prevent replay attacks.
6. Sharing and disclosure
V Player does not sell, rent, or trade personal data. Data is shared only with the categories of processors listed below, and only to the extent required to provide the service:
- The third-party payment provider that processes License payments as merchant of record.
- Our hosting and infrastructure provider, which operates the servers on which the Application and website run.
- Where required by law, court order, or to protect against fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms.
7. Data retention
Device registration data is retained while the Device is registered and active. Activation records and payment records are retained for accounting and audit purposes for as long as required by applicable law. Encrypted playlist credentials are retained while the playlist remains on your Device. Contact form submissions are retained until your inquiry is resolved and for a reasonable follow-up period.
8. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate data, request erasure, restrict or object to certain processing, request data portability, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, send a request through the contact form or by email to app.vplayer@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and may ask you to verify ownership of the Device or License associated with the request.
9. Children
V Player is not directed at children under thirteen (13) and we do not knowingly collect data from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided data to V Player, contact us and we will delete it.
10. International transfers
V Player infrastructure may be operated in one or more countries. Where personal data is transferred to a country outside your own, we rely on appropriate safeguards available to us, including any required contractual or standard protection mechanisms.
11. Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will, where reasonable, be highlighted on the V Player website. Your continued use of V Player after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
